July 7 — Relìv International, Inc. (Nasdaq: RELV) today announced that the Relìv Kalogris Foundation dedicated a new feeding center and schoolroom for impoverished children in Bois Lance de Limonade, Haiti. The Relìv Kalogris Foundation is Relìv's charitable arm.
R. Scott Montgomery, chairman of the Relìv Kalogris Foundation (RKF), attended the dedication ceremony, and said, "Relìv Distributors and employees raised the funds for the new building at a charitable walk during our International Conference in St. Louis last August. Their generosity made this building possible."
The Bois Lance feeding center eventually is expected to serve 500 children daily. In addition:
Volunteers built the feeding center and schoolroom using materials bought with funds from the RKF.
The RKF already donates free nutritional supplements to 6,600 malnourished children in Haiti every day, served at 22 locations.
The children receive Relìv Now® for Kids, a supplement that contains a broad base of essential vitamins, minerals and micronutrients necessary for healthy growth.
"The Relìv Kalogris Foundation also supplies free bio-sand water filters to its Haitian feeding programs," said Montgomery. "The bio-sand water filters provide the children with safe drinking water, which is otherwise unavailable."
The Bois Lance feeding center is the second built in Haiti by the RKF; the first was built in Liberale.
RKF charitable walks in 2007 and 2008 in St. Louis raised the funds to build the Haitian feeding centers, along with two more feeding centers built in the Philippines. The next charitable event, called the "Walk for the Mission," is scheduled for Aug. 15, in downtown St. Louis.
