Reliv International Helps 'Nourish Our World'

Reliv applauds the representatives for their support for the mission and efforts of the company's nonprofit organization - the Reliv Kalogris Foundation

CHESTERFIELD, Mo., Dec 04, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- (Grassroots Newswire) -- Most individuals that become an independent distributor with Reliv International do so to earn an income and offer nutritional supplements to their local community. But through their efforts came a bonus: providing critically needed supplements to malnourished children around the world through the company's nonprofit organization, the Reliv Kalogris Foundation.
With a mission to "nourish our world," the Reliv Kalogris Foundation provides free nutritional supplements to support organizations that combat malnutrition throughout the world. It provides Reliv supplements to more than 42,000 people, mostly children, in 270 programs in more than 10 countries, according to R. Scott Montgomery, chairman of the Reliv Foundation.
In 2007, Reliv distributors donated a record $1 million to the Reliv Foundation.
Over the past two years, Reliv distributors have raised $260,000 for the Foundation through its annual Walk for the Mission. The result: a new, three-story feeding center in Cavite City, Philippines, that serves 500 children who live on the city's garbage dumps. The new center replaced a cinderblock structure that had as its roof a tattered blue tarp. The funds also were used to build a feeding center and school in Haiti.
The Foundation was initially designed to provide its nutritional supplements free to individuals nominated by Reliv distributors, but today it has grown to help thousands more individuals stricken by poverty and malnutrition throughout the world.
The Reliv Kalogris Foundation - formed in 1995 - was named in honor of Dr. Ted Kalogris, who created the forerunner of Reliv's first product, Reliv Classic. To date, the Foundation has shipped more than $15.5 million in nutritional supplements to those in need around the world, Montgomery said. Those who operate the feeding centers in places like Haiti, Cambodia and the Philippines attest first-hand to the powerful benefits of the Reliv supplements.
"The Foundation is funded by distributors, the company and its employees, and 100 percent of distributor and employee donations go to support recipients," Montgomery said.
